1. Each driver must fill out an entry form and pay a fee of $ 40.00, ($ 35.00 if preregistered before day of show). All drivers must
    supply their own cars.
  2. Nobody under 18 years of age can drive or be in the pit area without written, notarized parental consent.
  3. The track or promoter reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
  4. All persons must sign the release sheet and receive a pit pass to be permitted in the pit area or on the track. Pit passes for 1
    driver and 2 pit crew will be issued for each car entered. All other pit passes are $10.00 each.
  5. No drinking of alcoholic beverages on track or in the pit area. Any driver or pit person under the influence of alcohol or drugs
    will be immediately disqualified and removed from the grounds.
  6. Any driver or crew member disobeying the rules will cause his or her car to be disqualified. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be
    tolerated and will be grounds for disqualification and barring from future derbies. Drivers are responsible for the actions of
    their crew members.
  7. Jim Bridger Demolition Derby volunteers and Bridger Volunteer Fire Department will not be responsible for any damage
    caused by driver’s negligence on the track or in the pit area. “Drivers and pit personnel are responsible for any damage
    caused by their negligence on the track or in the pit area.”
  8. The promoter, track owner, Bridger Volunteer Fire Department or Jim Bridger Demolition Derby volunteers will not be held
    responsible for any cars, parts or personal property before, during and after the show.
                     
                             TOWING AND TRANSPORTING CARS

Towing and transporting demolition Derby cars to and from race locations should meet highway safety codes (including proper
light controls, safety chains, tow bars, towing trailers, etc.)

                                                  TYPE OF CAR

Any two wheel drive, hardtop American made automobile is allowed, except as follows: NO;   SUVs, Vans, trucks, convertibles,
Jeeps, hearses, ambulances, Chrysler Imperials or limousines are allowed.

                                         PREPARATION OF CAR
                            (Complete following before arriving at track.)

  1. Remove all glass including windshield, side windows, rear window, head and tail lights. Rolling windows down is not permitted.
  2. Auto must be swept clean. No junk tires, wheels, metal parts, broken glass, etc. allowed in car.
  3. Chrome moulding strips, head liner, door panels, carpet, floor mats and rear seats must be removed. Station wagons must
    have all rear seats and deck lids removed. All fiberglass or plastic front header panels must be removed.
  4. Eliminate any sharp protruding edges (mash down or cut off).
  5. No special bumpers reinforcements or trailer hitches permitted. Fenders and bumper ends may be trimmed to allow for wheel
    clearance. On late model, shock bumper may be joined to the frame with a short piece of chain attached from bolt on bumper
    to bolt on frame, or one frigging light weld. No homemade bumpers or bumper mounts, OEM only.
  6. Suspension MUST remain STRICTLY STOCK. Do not invert spring shackles on Fords. Do not crank up torsion bar suspension
    on Chrysler Corp. cars. All cars MUST have some give or bounce. No stiff suspension. Screw in spring risers or blocks may be
    allowed at the discretion of the officials to bring weak or sagging suspensions to level position.
  7. Rear coil spring cars that change to shackles and springs, must use maximum of (5) (Five) car leafs on sedans and maximum
    of (7) (seven) car leafs on station wagons. No truck springs. Maximum of 4 clamps per spring, two front, two back are permitted.
  8. Welded solid or chained down engine mounts are recommended. Body mount bolts may be replaced, but only with stock size
    bolts (no larger than 5/8" and only (1) round washer.)
  9. Radiators must remain in original position and may not be reinforced. Comparable replacement radiators are permitted.
    Radiators and cooling systems should be flushed of anti-freeze and only water added. Transmission coolers are permitted
    either secured inside the engine compartment,or behind drivers seat and well covered.
  10. Roll bars are permitted behind front seat only with front support braces. All bars must be inside of car. No roll cages.
  11. All doors must be fastened shut by wire, bolts, straps, chains, or welds. It is mandatory that the driver’s door be reinforced
    inside with steel bar, angle iron, plate or pipe. Dash bars are permitted but can not exceed 3 inches in diameter. Follow this

  12. No welding or reinforcing will be allowed past six (6) inches in front of door (except engine mounts).
    Toward rear of car no welding or reinforcing allowed past rear axle center line (except trunk lid).
  13. If battery is moved from original position, it must be placed on floorboard of driver’s compartment or passenger seat area and
    securely fastened and covered.
  14. Hood, trunk and tailgate may be bolted in 6 places - no all thread - or wired in six (6) places each, 2 strands of wire per hole.  
    Another acceptable way to attach the hood is the use of pairs of angle iron (6 only), welded to the hood and fender,  these are
    then drilled and bolted.  The angle iron may be .25" x 2" x 2", and 2" in length. Chains may be used on doors, trunk
    or tailgate only. Wiring, chains or bolts must be from sheet metal to sheet metal. No other wiring, chaining or bolting to
    bumpers or frames. No bands or cables can be used. No welds on hood (except as mentioned above). Trunk lids may be
    welded, but welds must not exceed 1/3 of each seam. No solid welded trunk lids. Official’s decision on over use of wire, welds
    or chains. Hood must be left open until after inspection. Hoods must remain on cars.
  15. Driver’s door must be painted white for safety and numbering. Special numbers are permitted. No profanity will be allowed on
    any portion of car.
  16. Stock gas tanks need not be removed from original position, but must have at least six 1/2 inch holes drilled into bottom. Fuel
    tanks may be placed in front of rear axle but no farther forward than the rear of the front seat; all tanks must be securely
    fastened to floor; a marine type tank is recommended. Gas lines and fittings to fuel tanks must be secured and leak proof.
    Only metal or rubber gas lines permitted. No plastic lines! Maximum six (6) gallons of gas permitted per heat. Electric fuel
    pumps are permitted, but must have a shut-off switch within driver's reach and an "E" painted next to number on the door.
    Inspection official will give final approval on tanks and fittings.
  17. Each driver and mechanic must sign in at registration desk the day of show and have their car inspected at least one hour
    prior to show time.
  18. It is mandatory that the carburetor be covered and that an opening be cut in hood over carburetor, approximately 12" or
    larger, square or diameter. Hood latches must be removed. Also mandatory that a 12" or larger hole be cut in the trunk lid.
  19. DOT approved LT / automobile tires only (no orv or tractor). No restrictions on tire sizes. No double tires or liquids in tires
    permitted. No studs or screws in rims to hold tires. No split rims. Wheel weights must be removed.
  20. A single bar centered in the windshield area is mandatory, and a strong wire or nylon mesh screen is recommended on driver’s
    windows and windshield area.
  21. If you plan on ignoring or violating any of the previous rules, please bring your cutting touch to facilitate removal of any
    unapproved items.
  22. Reminder:  All official calls are final!!! Calls cannot be changed. If you do not like the calls that are made this year,  you
    should volunteer to help next year.

                                           RUNNING

  1. Safety belt, helmet and eye protection such as; goggles, safety glasses or face shields are required. Helmets and safety belts
    must remain on at all times during the heat, even if your car is not running. Long pants and shirts or jackets are required .
  2. No deliberate hitting on the driver’s door. No intentional hitting of a car with broken flag.
  3. Vehicles must have dependable brakes at all times and boundaries must be observed.
  4. No cars are permitted in the competition area before the heat in which they are to participate.
  5. A vehicle will be disqualified if the driver’s door comes open during the heat.
  6. Two minute limit for re-starts (stalled engines, stuck in mud / on other car, etc.) and one minute for making competitive contact
    with another car is enforced by the track officials. Hits must be aggressive. Simple contact within the time limit does not
    constitute combat and could be considered sandbagging.
  7. All cars are to be removed from the rodeo complex following the show or they will become the property of Jim Bridger
    Demolition Derby Committee and the officials will have them removed at the driver’s expense.
  8. A fire extinguisher is required in each driver’s pit area.
  9. No one riding on outside of cars anytime due to insurance regulation.
  10. Drivers must remain in their cars until heat is over, unless danger is present. No mechanics are allowed on the track once the
    heat has started.
  11. All cars transfering to the final heat will be subject to inspection prior to entering the track for the championship
    competition.  All rules apply, violations will be result in disqualification.  All decisions are final.

Additional safety regulations may be imposed, depending on track.
Boundaries must be observed at all times. Any car shoved or driven out of bounds or has 3 or more wheels on or over the berm will
be disqualified from the heat.

The Derby will be composed of individual heats and one Feature, with cash prize of $ 1200.00 going to winner of the Feature. The
number of entries and money collected at the gate will determine any other cash prizes for successive places. Decision of the official
is final.

These rules supersede any, and all rules previously used.

The 2009 Jim Bridger Days Demolition Derby will be held on Saturday, July 18 at 6:00 pm, registration and inspection will begin at
2:00 pm.

Additional notes: Don't forget, two transfers from the hard-luck heat to the main.
* The two drivers from each heat that transfer to the main will be refunded entry fees (not to exceed $40.00). Does not apply to
grudge heat.
